Incredible but true… we have reached October!

Well, you might say “as every year.” But no, dear readers, this year is different. This year nothing was guaranteed, least of all reaching October with still some guests in the hotel. That’s why it’s incredible. Because the titanic feat that was the 2020 season seemed like a mission impossible in April. So we can say… Mission accomplished! And it was possible thanks to you, who decided not to give up and to enjoy your well-deserved vacation, and chose to do it in Italy, in Calasetta. It is thanks to your courage and determination that this strange season ends. And our greatest thanks go to you. Thank you because we know how difficult it was for you to adapt to this new reality, with all these restrictions and the fear of contracting the virus, but you chose us, despite everything. Thank you for the patience and understanding you have shown when we could not offer you what we have accustomed you to in these years. We did our best and we know you understood. And finally, thank you for your positive feedback, for the recognition, and for all the affection shown. Because even if we have to maintain social distancing, your kind words have been the warmest of hugs. Just like your smile when you leave satisfied. A smile that we couldn’t see because of the mask, but that we learned to read in your eyes.

Autumn made us wait, but it finally arrived, and with it the daily routine in our lives resumes: waking up at dawn, going to work when it’s still dark outside, taking the kids to school and thinking that it seems like yesterday when you were planning your vacation in Calasetta, intrigued by this little corner of paradise still too unknown and eager to discover it. We are sure that just the memory of it will bring a smile to your face! So we ask you to stop for a moment, while you are at work buried in paperwork or at home changing your wardrobe for the season. Stop and close your eyes. Imagine going back in time, and suddenly, as if by magic, you are back in Calasetta. You have just gotten out of the car, taking a deep breath of salty air, and in an instant, you are revitalized. You enter our hotel and are immediately enveloped in the aroma of “mamma Chiara’s cakes,” as she is in her “kingdom” preparing a fantastic breakfast to start tomorrow’s day off right. You are welcomed by our ever-present smile, you feel pampered, and you immediately realize that you have not stumbled upon just any cold hotel, but a family where joy and human warmth reign. After settling into your room and chatting a bit to get to know us, you head straight to the beach for the much-awaited dip in the crystal-clear water that you never want to leave. You return to the hotel full of sand, salt, and enthusiasm. Cooked by the sun and joy. A quick shower, and off you go again, to enjoy the extraordinary evenings that Calasetta offers with its “Tabarchini Tuesdays,” “Calasettani Fridays,” market stalls, Sardinian handicrafts, walks in the port or on the beach, Pilau and Cascà, dancing, music, and the characteristic serenades. Because here, it’s always a party, and now you know it too. By now, you love Calasetta too.

This is how we want to say goodbye to you and make an appointment for next year: imagining you with a smile on your face as you relive those emotions like a dream to help you through the long winter, with the hope of embracing you again, certain that we have won a place in your heart.

Hello everyone! The 2019 work season has just begun!

Like every year, the new year brings new energy, new goals, new awareness and a renewed desire to give… yes, to give our smiles, our passion, our happiness, our kindness, and our proposals for a charming holiday!

Are you ready for all of this… and more?

Yes, we will be only a part of what you can take from your holiday in Calasetta!

Everything else is done by Mother Earth, who has been so generous down here… in this small corner of Sardinia, where you usually arrive at the end of a larger Sardinian adventure, and where you invariably leave your heart, which you come back to visit every year… as expressed by one of our beloved guests!!!

We’re almost there… Us, Mother Earth… only one small ingredient is missing… Your predisposition to HAPPINESS and letting go. Your desire to reclaim your inner child, the one who gets excited about every little thing, who wonders, who is curious, and who knows what you really need…

We, who were born and live in this enchanted place, know a little about what our most authentic part asks us to be happy…

Here, it’s easier than you might think: walking, running barefoot on the sand heated by the sun, swimming in a crystal clear sea, breathing in the salty air, and listening to the Maestrale that shakes and tousles your hair, but suggests important things if you let it… And the list is not yet complete: seeing the colors and scents of the flowers and low shrubs of the Mediterranean maquis, the most precious furnishings of our countryside and our cliffs; diving from the Sparrow’s Nest, and if you can do it, you’re really brave and skilled! Admiring and photographing the Mangiabarche Lighthouse from the dryness of the Saline, which attracts many people, especially in winter, when the sea with its immense waves envelops it with its power, without ever harming it! Sitting on the cliff at Mercureddu, and admiring the sea that stretches out of sight, where the sun at sunset seems to be sucked in, a spectacle of indescribable colors and magic.

My heart is filled with emotion in telling you all this, and 10 pages would not be enough to contain all that I could still list… So I decide to stop here, sure that I have opened a breach in your heart!

Casa Falconieri, an internationally active center for experimentation and research in the promotion and valorization of printmaking arts, has chosen the MACC museum, in agreement with director Efisio Carbone and the MACC Foundation, as the venue for the international exhibition ON PAPER, bringing works and artists to Calasetta from October to January for a symposium on contemporary engraving that extends and enriches the museum’s exhibition season even during months that are notoriously more difficult to reach a wide audience. The exhibition is a moment of reflection for the museum dedicated to the main “medium” of its permanent collection: paper. It is also a tribute to the engraving practices of which Ermanno Leinardi, founder of the MACC museum and donor of the collection, was an undisputed master, obtaining important national and international recognitions.

Among the great historical names present, we recall Achille Pace, Mimmo Paladino, Maria Lai, Alik Cavaliere, Enrico Castellani, Giuseppe Uncini, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Enrico Baj, Guido Strazza, Emilio Vedova, Renzo Piano; in addition to the precious nuclei of works by the great Spanish masters Antoni Tapies and Eduardo Chillida. There is also a section dedicated to Sardinian artists, including Gabriella Locci, now one of the most established masters in the field of printmaking internationally, guiding and supporting this practice for the young generations in Sardinia.

From October 20 to January 6 MACC Museum, Via Savoia 2, Calasetta Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 4:30pm-7:30pm, Sunday 10am-1pm The Hotel Cala di Seta in collaboration with the MACC Museum offers: €50 with breakfast in a standard double room €55 with breakfast in a superior double room €35 in a single room €40 in a single-use double room including breakfast.

We have almost come to the end of this new, incredible and unforgettable adventure that has been the 2018 working season!!!

We take some time to dedicate these lines to all those who, in a completely personal and therefore unique way, have experienced the Hotel Cala di Seta both as a place to stay for their holidays and as a workplace, just like they have been doing for the past 26 years.

A premise is necessary: we address first and foremost our father, without whom the Hotel Cala di Seta would not have seen the light!

You have given us a great opportunity, which is not granted to everyone: being able to work in an enchanted place, Calasetta, and being able to count on the support and affection of our family!

A heartfelt and loving thanks goes to our staff, who have been accompanying us on this adventure for years, providing a deep and fundamental contribution to the success of our work! Thank you so much for your commitment and dedication with which you face your tasks day after day!

Last but not least, a heartfelt thanks goes to all of you, our dear guests, both new and loyal, who have become friends and part of the family!!!

First of all, we thank you for choosing Calasetta, this town that many still do not know, or where in most cases you arrive after having already visited all of Sardinia, the one that is known to most.

Here is a summary of what our guests tell us from the beginning and especially at the moment of departure:

This fills our hearts with joy and pride, yes, we are talking about Sardinian pride, the one that makes you feel special because you have had the privilege of being born and raised here, in this land kissed by the Sun, the Sea and the Maestrale Wind that shakes the soul and guides you, if you know how to listen to it..

We thank you for choosing us, the Hotel Cala di Seta, as a reference point from which to set off every day and explore unique and special places!

Our greatest desire every day is that our guests are happy, satisfied and that they carry an indelible memory of us and our land in their hearts! And we really put all our effort into making it happen!

Many times we hit the mark, and that gives us the right drive and energy to continue, other times less. But it is especially those who find something that is not right that give us the key to change and improve, for everything we can do!
